Osteoarthritis or Rheumatoid Arthritis

The PRECISION compares 3 approved medications commonly used to treat arthritis pain:  Celebrex, ibuprofen and naproxen. We are looking for people who have osteoarthritis (OA) or rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and have, or are at risk, for heart disease.  The study will help doctors learn more about the long-term heart safety of these medications.  There are a total of 13 study visits over 42 months.

Subjects must be age 18 or older with a diagnosis of OA or RA for at least 6 months, requiring regular medication for OA or RA.  Eligible subjects have heart disease or are at high risk for heart disease --  for example:  coronary vascular disease, occlusive disease of non-coronary arteries, diabetes Type I or II,
OR any 3 of the following:  age >55, hypertension, high cholesterol, smoker, have a family history of heart disease or stroke, LVH by ECG, or documented ABI <0.9
